Der heilige Patrick von Irland war ein christlicher Missionar und gilt in Irland als Nationalheiliger (Feiertag 17. März, St. Patricks Day). 
Die St. Patrickskirche in Dublin war ursprünglich eine kleine Holzkapelle, die nahe einer Quelle stand, an der angeblich St. Patrick um 450 bekehrte Gläubige getauft hatte.
